Just like anything else, there are right and wrong ways to train your dogs. Oftentimes you can see people teach the wrong thing instead of the right thing. This may sometimes produce good outcome, but this will be solely based on pure luck instead of a planned achievement. This is just like training a small kid to play basketball. People know instantly that these tactics are not good in dog training. Too much punishment is unwise, as everyone knows. However, this does not mean that non-action is a wise thing to. This training tactic is equally bad. Some people will probably say that they understand this very well because not training your do will ensure unpleasant habits. However, they should also realize that non-action also means inconsistency or very rare training.
Saying that you have trained your dog once every week, or every after two weeks and so on is not a suitable way to have your dog trained. It is a very sluggish technique which will never get you a well-trained dog.
But this does not also mean that you will have to train your dog for hours without rest. This is a very bad method of making your dog compliant. Many people tend to over-train their dogs and you know well enough that this is not good. In the end, you have to remember that over-training are under-training both bring terrible results.
