My “Dog Crate Store”

A List of Links to Discount Dog Crates I’ve Used

I’ve tried out a lot of different kinds of crates. Wire crates, plastic crates, folding, collapsible, cute wicker crates, and even the Vari-Kennel – I have lots of dogs, and we do lots of stuff together, so I’ve used lots of dog crates.

The right crate is very useful to both the dog, and the dog owner. A dog crate teaches restraint during house training and chew toy training. It provides your dog a sanctuary when traveling and even at home.

Done right, crate training is about giving your dog his own den. Your dog’s crate becomes his retreat.

Most of these links are from my favorite online dog supplies store, Dog.com. A few are from other sites that offer unique dog crates, or luxury crates and beds.

Some of the brands I’ve really liked, so you’ll see discount links for their products below, are: Midwest, General Cage, TheraPet, Petmate, and Precision Pet.

The Basics of Dog Crate Training

Rules for Crate Training

  • If you’re going to put a puppy into a crate that’s big enough for his adult size, use partitions.
  • Take off your dog’s collar before putting him in a crate, to avoid a choking risk.
  • Don’t ever use the crate as a punishment, or the dog won’t feel right being in his crate.
  • Avoid crating your dog for long periods over and over, this turns your dog into a caged animal.

On to My Dog Crate Store

There are travel crates, training crates, kennels meant for occasional all-day use, and more. Make sure to buy a dog crate that covers all the reasons you’ll use it, and is the right size for your specific dog breed.

PetSafe and Midwest make very durable, quality crates that last forever. If you only want to buy one large dog crate for travel and training, they offer some of the best.
